Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

Zululand Firearms Training Academy (“ZFTA”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to align with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

Information you give us

When you complete the enquiry form on this website, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number, if you choose to provide it
  • The service you are interested in and your subject line, if provided
  • The content of your message

These fields are the only personal information this website asks for. We do not ask for identity numbers, firearm licence details, financial information or any other sensitive data through this site. Please do not send those details through the enquiry form — we will handle them in person or through the appropriate SAPS process.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider records standard technical request logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used to keep the site running, secure and available.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this website — which pages are read, which services draw the most interest, and whether the site works properly on the devices visitors use. This helps us improve it.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, roughly how long you spend on them, your approximate location, and the type of device and browser you use. We have enabled IP anonymisation, so your full IP address is not stored by Google Analytics. We use this information in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with the details you send us through the enquiry form.

Google processes this information on our behalf and may store it outside South Africa. You can read how Google handles it at policies.google.com/privacy.

If you would rather not be measured, you can block cookies in your browser settings, use your browser's private mode, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking these cookies does not affect your ability to use any part of this website.

We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run retargeting or ad-tracking pixels, and we do not sell any information to third parties.

The on-site chat assistant

The chat assistant on this website runs entirely in your own browser. Your conversation with it is not transmitted to us, is not recorded and is not stored anywhere. It disappears when you close the page.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry and provide the information you asked for
  • To arrange range bookings, training and licensing assistance you request
  • To keep a record of correspondence with you
  • To meet our obligations as an accredited training provider and firearms dealer

We will not use your details to send you marketing material unless you have asked us to.

Who can see it

Enquiries submitted on this site are stored in a secured database hosted by Supabase and are delivered to our team by email through Resend, our email delivery provider. These providers process the information on our instruction in order to operate the service, and may store it outside South Africa. Access to enquiries is limited to ZFTA staff who need it to respond to you. Website usage statistics are processed separately by Google Analytics, as described above, and are never linked to your enquiry.

Beyond this, we do not share, sell or rent your personal information. We may disclose information where the law requires it, for example to the South African Police Service in connection with our statutory obligations.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and to maintain a reasonable business record, and are deleted when they are no longer required, unless a law requires us to keep them for longer.

How we protect it

This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and enquiry data is transmitted and stored over encrypted connections with access controls in place. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

  • Confirm what personal information we hold about you
  • Provide you with a copy of it
  • Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete
  • Delete it where we have no lawful reason to keep it
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose, including marketing

To make any of these requests, email info@zfta.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable period. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
